Isla Mujeres + Isla Contoy Tour Itinerary
You’ll meet your fellow Adventure seekers at our Luxury Marina Punta Sam where you’ll enjoy a Pre Departure Juices, Coffee, snacks of fruit and sweet-rolls, followed by a briefing of the day’s activities. Then you will board our Ultra-Modern Fully equipped High Speed Boats and head out for adventure.
Snorkeling Ixlache Reef
First stop will be the Ixlache Reef which is the actual start of the famous Mesoamerican Reef system that extends down the Caribbean . You’ll be provided Professional Grade Snorkel and Flotation vest certified by National Geographic. (Other tour Companies charge EXTRA for Snorkel Gear….your gear is included at NO EXTRA CHARGE!)
You’ll easily enter the snorkeling area from the rear step-deck section of our specially equipped boats for easy in and out access….No ladders or jumping overboard as you’d be forced to do on “other” tours.
Isla Contoy Trip
After approximately 45 minutes observing the Colorful fish, turtles, etc., you’ll head to Isla Contoy with its White Powder Sugar beach and Virgin Crystal-Clear waters. You’ll be able to visit the Amazing Marine Museum operated by the “Amigos De Isla Contoy”, as well as checking out the nature trails and observatory overlooking the island.
Mayan Style BBQ and Isla Contoy Beach and Isla Mujeres
Then it’s “LUNCH TIME”. You will enjoy an Amazing Caribbean BBQ featuring Fresh Fish prepared “Mayan Style” or Tik n Xic, which are Fresh Fillets marinated in secret Mayan Spices charcoal broiled over native hardwood. Also featured is Charbroiled Chicken, Rice, Vegetables, Salad, Potatoes, fruit, Water Soft Drinks & Beer!
Then RELAX on the beach after which we’ll re-board the Fast Boats and head to ISLA MUJERES where you’ll have an hour or so to do some shopping, etc. When you depart on Isla Mujeres and return you’ll receive a Special Fun Cocktail. About Isla Contoy
Isla Contoy is in the State of Quintana Roo and is located at the point of the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 30 kilometers north of Isla Mujeres. The island is only 8.5-Km in length. Isla Contoy is also considered the most important nesting place of sea birds in all of the Mexican Caribbean.
Protected by the Mexican government since 1961, and declared a National Park in February 1998, the island is jointly run by the Isla Mujeres-based Non-Governmental Organization, Amigos de Isla Contoy A.C.“ and the National Comission for Natural Protected Areas CONANP who depends of the Secretary of Environment, Natural Resources and Fishing (SEMARNAT).
Besides its unparalleled beauty, secluded sandy white beaches and lush palm trees, the island boasts more than a hundred and fifty migrating and resident bird species. The most easy to observe are the frigate, the brown pelican and the double-crested cormorant. Isla Contoy is also an important nesting place for Sea Turtles!
There is also snorkeling locations close to Isla Contoy, where visitors can stop and snorkel the beautiful Ixlache Reef, home to countless marine species.

We start with prompt AC Modern transfer vans to bring you safely from your hotel/resort to our luxurious departure marina Punta Sam. We begin with a quick briefing/outline of the day including a quick morning snack of Coffee, juices, water, fruit & sweet rolls.
Snorkeling Isla Mujeres
We’ll then head out for the first snorkel stop en route to Isla Mujeres. Here the waters are a rainbow of Blue, Turquoise, & Transparent…..the Perfect combination for Snorkeling. We’ll snorkel approximately 40 minutes. You’ll enjoy complimentary Professional Grade Snorkel gear certified by National Geographic. A Certified guide will accompany all snorkelers – Safety 1ST Always.
Playa Norte: Isla Mujeres Beach
Next Stop will be “Playa Norte” or North Beach. This is considered by all travel guides & travelers alike to be the BEST Beach on Isla Mujeres. The Shallow waters & White Sand Beach is legendary. We’ll remain here approximately 1 hour, after which we’ll re-board the boat & travel to downtown where you’ll have 1 hour to visit Isla Mujeres many Shops & Sights.
Underwater Museum, Beach Club, Gato Shark and Mayan BBQ
We’ll then reboard the boat & navigate thru the “Hidden” Canals of Isla Mujeres seeing interesting homes, & related boat traffic. Let’s call it the “Venice” of Cancun! Isla Mujeres is home to one of the top rated beaches in the world, Playa Norte (North Beach). Calm and clear blue water that is shallow for almost 100 meters. Then, it becomes deep enough to swim! A pristine beach, but is not isolated. The island has the perfect amount of charming beach bars and restaurants visited by international visitors.

Sacred
Isla Mujeres was named for the abundant statues of Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of love, fertility, and medicine. These were found by Spanish conquistador Francisco Fernandez de Cordoba in 1517. There is a sculpture garden and incredible views of the waves crashing into the cliffs at Punta Sur (South Point). Although not much remains of the ruins of Ixchel’s temple, you can still feel the presence this Mayan mythological goddess.
Sunrise + Sunsets
Isla Mujeres has astonishing sunrises and sunsets. Go to the southern part of the island (most eastern point of Mexico) for the opportunity to be the first in Mexico to see the sun rise above the horizon. The best place to view the sunset is the west part of Playa Norte.
Uncrowded and Less Expensive
Isla Mujeres is more or less inexpensive because it doesn’t have glitz and glamour like the bigger and more popular destinations in Mexico. It has grown in popularity, but is still not overly populated with tourists. The charm of Isla Mujeres is that the local people are welcoming and friendly, especially if you ask them about local experiences!
Easy to Navigate and Unique Finds
The center of town is only four by six blocks, which can easily be walked. The rest of the Island of Isla Mujeres is only four miles long, so there is no need for cars. The best (and most fun) way to travel around on the island is by renting a golf cart and discovering all the island has to offer. Enjoy the open-air carts and have fun driving. Local vendors and craftspeople sell beautiful merchandise. You can shop for goods on the beach and in vendor kiosks near Playa Norte and in town. Some examples of the best items are blankets, ceramics, hammocks, and beaded jewelry.

Caribbean Star Snorkel Tour
The adventures start at your hotel lobby to take you on our A/C vans to our Marina to do a very brief check-in, here, you will receive the instructions briefing and activity rules. After this, we will board the snorkeling and scuba boat for our 3-hour adventure visiting 2 snorkeling points.
First stop, The Underwater Museum, with hundreds of sculptures submerged with a double purpose, to attract people away from the natural coral reefs and to create new reefs.
Second stop, The magnificent Coral reefs along the Great Mayan reef barrier, part of the 2nd largest coral barrier in the world, where you will have the opportunity to interact with colorful fish and other marine life in their habitat.Water and soft drinks are included throughout the whole excursion.
